About the Drive Effort

We love the outdoors. And we love helping kids get outdoors to enjoy the natural world around them.
That's why we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Champaign County Forest Preserve District's Homer Lake Natural Playscape and want to help make it a reality! So:

During our Camptastic Sale, May 7-13th
we will donate $1 every time, and for every bag 
when a customer makes a purchase and either
uses their own reusable tote or doesn't take a bag at all.


Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the Homer Lake Playscape. Help us to meet it!

 

Playscape Lunch n Learn

Want to learn more about the Homer Lake Natural Playscape?

Spend your lunch hour with us and learn all about the Homer Lake Natural Playscape from Lisa Sprinkle, CCFPD Marketing Director. Hear the history of the playscape project, why it will be so beneficial for kids, see the plans for the various play areas, recent construction photos and more. The event is 'bring your own lunch', but healthy snacks will be provided. We'll give out a free packet of Wildflower Seeds to, and make a donation to the Playscape for every attendee. Kids are welcome... and encouraged! Please RSVP to Shira. 

 

About the Playscape

CCFPD is building a Natural Playscape for kids at the Homer Lake Forest Preserve. The playground is designed to connect children with nature. Unlike a traditional playground made of plastic and metal, the Natural Playscape uses natural materials like streams, plants, boulders, logs, earth mounds and more to provide a highly creative, interactive, outdoor play experience.

Help us donate $1000 to the Homer Natural Playscape!
The playscape will be located just north of the Walnut Hill parking lot at Homer Lake Forest Preserve. It will include ADA-accessible pathways, a sand play area, a tumbling creek, hill slide, log, boulder and stump jumping area, human-sized bird house, a large horizontal climbing tree, tallgrass maze, spider web climber and more!
