The gear lists provided here are suggestions to help you plan your next trip. Each list is fairly comprehensive and includes what we recommend as the essential backpacking gear required for safe travel in moderate environments, but are intended for reference and education purposes only. It is critical that you consider the particular destination, trip duration and season of travel in determining your final gear needs in the backcountry. Never take less with you than is needed to be safe given your experience level with the route, weather, your gear and your travel companions.
